Head coach Yunyi Zhu played for the Chinese National Badminton Team from 1996 to 2001 and won the 1996 Asian Youth Championship women’s singles title. She founded PureKing in China in 2003, and in 2023 she brought the same step-by-step coaching method to Irvine, California.
Today PureKing Sports offers badminton lessons, tournaments and a pro shop for kids, teens and adults across Orange County. New players start with a free level check, so every player lands in a class that challenges them without leaving them lost.
FOUNDER & HEAD COACH
Yunyi Zhu
Coach Yunyi Zhu is a former China National Team singles athlete who competed at the highest levels of international professional badminton. After years of elite competition on the world stage, she made Southern California her home — bringing championship-caliber coaching to Irvine's vibrant badminton community.
PureKing Sports was founded with a single mission: to give every student — from young beginners to competitive teenagers — access to world-class technique and training methods in a supportive, outdoor environment.
